Chitzen Itza Ruins (aka - chicken pizza - that was our drivers joke...we all thought it was the most funny thing ever, so for the rest of the trip when anyone would say, chitzen itza...we would all say "chicken pizza") it doesn't take much to make us laugh

This is a cenote (underground fresh water well)...so much fun to swim in and jump of the big jump. I walked all the way to the top of the jump...waited...and waited some more, then walked the back down...how embarrassing!!

She had so much fun walking up the hill -- she didn't want anyone to carry her!!

Dear Family and Friends ~ December 2009

We are grateful to know so many wonderful people that have touched our lives. It is nice to reflect upon the memories and love that we share with each of you during this special time of year. We are blessed to celebrate and honor our Savior’s birth and remember the extraordinary gift that he has given each of us.

Taysen is a true joy. She just turned 18 months on the 10th of December. She is a sweetheart; she captures every person she meets with her smile. We are continually stopped in the stores and restaurants so others can make her acquaintance. She is a very happy little girl, full of love and laughter to share. She loves to tease, especially her little dog, Dugan. She is a great helper; she finds little pieces of lint on the floor and throws them in the trash. She “mops” the floor with her own paper-towel and even pretends to vacuum – with the real vacuum. She just took her first steps tonight and giggled the entire time. She loves to talk all of the time (I guess she is a true girl) and has learned quite a bit of sign language. Taysen loves to eat; I mean she loves to eat if it is CANDY! She has the biggest sweet tooth and is the pickiest eater ever; it drives mom crazy.

As of last January, Clint was offered a position to be the Maintenance Supervisor for Island View, a treatment center for adolescent teens. He has recently been working many extra hours remodeling the dorm areas. He has rebuilt desks, closets, tables, and chairs and painted everything in sight. Even though Clint has been working many hours, he and his friends decided that they would get up at 4:30am to get to work an hour early to play basketball. Clint continues to work with the youth in our church and is now the youth basketball coach. Clint was excited to say good buy to his 1996 Stratus and welcome his new Camry this year.

Mindy has started working part-time for Solstice, a treatment center for adolescent girls. She primarily works from home, talking on the phone with perspective parents and referring consultants. She is lucky to have a wonderful mother and mother-in-law to watch Taysen a few times a month when she goes into work to give the tours. Come January, Mindy is looking forward to begin a city league volleyball team; she can hardly wait. Mindy has most recently been asked to work with the youth in our church as well. This keeps her and Clint super busy. Mindy sadly said good-buy to her Grandpa when he past away this August from cancer; she misses him dearly.

Clint and Mindy are excited to be heading out of town and going to Cancun on January 1st with Mindy’s parents and sisters. We can hardly wait to go swim with the fishes and enjoy the sun. We are a little sad because baby Taysen will be playing at home with “Grandma Saline” and not joining us.

Tay and her friends Kade and Kylie jumped in the big pumpkin...it was pretty fun until Taysen slid out and got stuck inbetween the pumpkin and the net door...she had a huge smile on her face when I picked her up! Dayna, Sheryl open those eyes...good job kids, you kept your eyes opened!

Yes it was cold, we were all bundled up -expt Kasey...she said she was hot. I'm not a protective mom, Taysen wanted to wear 3 hats!!!!!!!!

the train was too cute...pigs and cows made out of large water storage containers pulled by a 4-wheeler...fun!!

Taysen's favorite part was playing in the corn....she was in heaven. She also really liked going down the slides, but I didn't get a picture b/c I was usually helping her go down :)

Cousin Kasey is so cute. She was fun to play with!

Ba-Ma (Grandma) Deonne and meeny (Mindy) took me (Tay) to take my pictures at Black Island Farm...it was so windy, lucky for me I had my fur to keep me warm!! I didn't want to sit on the hay but "meeny" kept bribing me with candy! yum

Taysen was a pretty good actress...she wanted to be done. As soon as she was back in mom's arms, she was all smiles...even bigger smiles when she got to the car and got to eat pa - pa (pop corn) and sit in the front seat with grandma while meeny picked out a 20 lb head of cabbage!

Black Island Famrs is a great place...lots of fun!

Oquirrh Mountain Temple - Open House

Jylaire was nice enough to invite us to the Oquirrh Mt. Temple Open House. It is so beautiful. Poor Moroni - he was struck by lighting the night before and has a blackened arm and face. I loved driving around the Temple in Day Break and seeing all of the beautiful homes that are "new" but look like they were build back in the 50's...it is so neat! I know where I want to live :)

Grandma Deonne, Grandpa Lynn, Uncle Darin and Aunt Brooke are the exciting couch people at the party.

Kasey and Taysen are the hit of the party. We also celebrated Kasey's 5th Birthday - she is born the same day as Grandpa Thurgood and Press Hinkley.

Aunt Syvia helped Taysen drink 8 oz of milk!! Wow Syvia you are hired to be Taysen's personal feeder - the doctor will love you. He says "Taysen is too skinny and needs to gain some weight!"

I would have to say blonds do have more fun! Grandma Deonne, Aunt Tammy, Aunt Shelly and Grandma Jolene all spoil our little Tay.

Everyone loved watching Taysen get so excited opening her presents. She loved getting things out of the bags and throwing the paper!!Dugan was right in all the action too!

Kasey is such a big girl - it seems just like yesterday she was a little baby like Taysen.

Taysen thinks it is her personal responsibility to touch every cake and eat it too!! We have trained her poorly.

Happy Easter!! Taysen loved opening all her gifts from her Grandparents! She thought is was so fun to open the bags and get all the fun stuff out. She got some eggs with money, a book, a chicken, two bunnies, a cute dress...way too much stuff. Grandparents love to spoil her :)

Taysen loves her bath time. She likes to play with her ducks and put them in her cup. She also loves to splash and make lots of noise!! She has the best blue eyes! She is just to sweet.

Taysen always loves when mommy has curlers in her hair. So mommy bought Taysen some curlers of her own. She was so proud that so got to wear them - she loved looking at her self in the mirror - what a big girl.

Happy Easter! Don't I look just beautiful in the dress that Aunt Syvia and Uncle Dave gave me? I was the cutest girl in the entire town. Everyone said so!!!

Dear Friends and Family~

We are so excited to celebrate this time of year and remember the birth and life of our Savior. We are also grateful to have you in our lives and hope you are all doing well.
We have been very blessed this year with the opportunity to have so many “NEW” experiences. The best experience included~ no sleep, 3am feedings, shot-gun poop, toothless grins…yes, our sweet baby from above, Taysen. She is our little angel, she has been a delightful addition to our family. She is getting so big, she is already 6 months old and learning how to “BARK”. I guess she thinks she is part puppy or the dog has been teaching her how to speak. She is so dramatic when she “barks” ~ she does a long drawn out blink of her eyes and sighs a little “aughh”. It is too cute. She has us laughing for hours ~ we are so easily entertained!!
Taysen has also been taught some bad habits by her daddy. Clint will hold her in his lap with her facing outward, he will then hold her legs and pretend to have her kick her mother in the head, while Clint is making sound effects. Taysen thinks it is the most fun ever. So when our child is playing with your child and she kicks them and laughs, it is all Clint’s fault!
Taysen loves sitting in her high chair, she thinks she is such a “big” girl. She also loves to giggle, sing pretty, drink out of big people glasses and pet her doggy. She has quite a strong grabber and tends to pinch a little on the hard side. However, Dugan is very good with her and let’s us practice petting him “softly”.
Clint, is awaiting to use his birthday present. He will be certifying to scuba dive in the next few weeks…he is very excited, he is our fish out of water. He also will be starting a new job come January. He was offered the position of the maintenance supervisor for Island View, which was the treatment center he and Mindy both worked for. He is in the Young Men’s presidency and relates to the teen-age boys quite well, maybe a little to well! This summer Clint and my dad (Mindy’s dad - Lynn) spent the summer in our yard playing with tinker toys, I mean sprinklers and planting weeds, I mean grass. We still have a long to do list for next summer~ plant more shrubs, put in a fence, deck and awning, side the shed and get ride of the weeds!
Clint finally got his way this year and talked Mindy into getting a new car - we got a Toyota Camry - which is quite nice…unlike Clint’s old car (12 yrs) the Camry’s heater works in the winter and the air conditioner even works in the summer…and you don’t even have to have your sweet dad adjust the idol on the carburetor, like on Mindy’s (20 year old) car. However, Mindy is a very sad she isn’t driving Yolonda-the-Golden-Honda anymore.
Mindy is enjoying being a stay at home mom. She was so excited to stay home and thought she would have all this time to cook, clean and do projects…but it seems like most of the time goes to baby Taysen - which is ok too. Mindy also keeps busy working with the young girls, ages 8-11 in her ward, they do two activities a month…they are very sweet girls, it is fun to hang out with them. This month they did a “angel tree” gift for a needy child ~ needless to say, it was quite an adventure taking 13 girls to Target to go shopping in the middle of December (crazy but fun). She was also asked to be the primary chorister ~ she really enjoys playing with the kids and teaching them songs (even though she still has pregnancy brain and sometimes forgets the words)!
We love you all so much and hope your Christmas is or was (since I am writing this so late) wonderful.
